Bumpy tool rest solution Do you find that your toolrest gets groovy after use? That is NOT a good thing by the way, nice as it sounds.Here is what I did. I have a Delta planer which takes small replaceable blades 12 1/2 inches long. I scuffed up the back of one used blade. Used a coarse grinder to grind a flattish surface on the top of my toolrest. Then mixed up some epoxy and adhesive filler and glued the hard blade to the top of the toolrest. I held the blade in place while the glue set with masking tape and some magnets. As you can see the top of the toolrest is smooth as can be and the lathe tools do not marr the surface. |  |
