Tailstock Hanger Here is one way to deal with the constant need to remove and replace a heavy tailstock.Attach a heavy wire to the ceiling, slightly to the back and right of the end of the lathe. Bend a hook in the other end so that it can slip through a hole in the tailstock - in this case the hole in the back of the tailstock. When the tailstock is hung thus it swings well away giving ample room to swing those long handle tools. But I also attached a wire to the wall so that the suspended tailstock can be held well away from the lathe. | ![]() |
| Here is a picture of the yoke on the end of the wire which slips into the hole behind the tailstock. | ![]() |
| That is the hole and the yoke in front. I used heavy 9 gg wire for this so there is little chance of the wire bending under the strain. | ![]() |
