Overview of the lathe under the overhang. The cantilevered weights (70 lbs of rock maple screwed down) are clearly visible here.

My cedar strip canoe under wraps in the background.

Home made lathe from the "front" showing the lathe bed made from a drilled heavy angle iron piece. The banjo is two 2 inch angle iron pieces welded to some 1 inch pipe. The handle on the banjo clamps the banjo to the bed with a 5/8 inch bolt. No tools required. The toolrest is a General lathe toolrest with 1 inch rod base clamped in the 1 inch I.D. pipe.
