I own a Triton Respirator. Here are my comments. I have left the "fix" part lower down just in case you get an old model.
However Triton has fixed the newer respirators with a much more flexible hose which works fine. Also the folks at Triton are VERY helpful. I ordered a new hose which ended up not fitting my respirator because it was an older model. They sent a complete remake fix which gave me a new top to the filter housing plus a new inside to the hard hat.
Since this page may be useful to some I leave it here but believe me Triton stands by their product.
Also note that the Triton Respirator gives very good protection as it covers you fairly completely.
Drawbacks: It takes a little effort to get into. The faceshield causes some distortion. Initially I got a little claustrophobic but that soon passed - you can lift the visor.
If you have a old Triton Powered Respirator you have probably noticed that it can be very uncomfortable! When you look up the hose pushes the helmet forward over your eyes. When you bend down the hose pulls back and sometimes even comes off the power unit or the hard hat. All very irksome! I have little patience for stuff that does not work well and if I had bought the system new probably would have taken it back or demanded a fix but I bought mine from someone who did not like it. (surprise surprise)

So here is a picture of the hose fix that I have made and now it is quite comfy. The hose is cheap sump pump plastic hose available at any Home Depot type outlet. A short rope holds the coil so it does not stick out and pull down. I replaced the two spring clamps with two screw on hose clamps that hold the hose firmly to the power unit and to the hat.
By the way. I now use the respirator everytime I sand and my dust allergies are gone - so it works well with the "fix".
Update - October 2004
After sending this page to the folks at Triton I got a very nice reply:
John,
Thank you for your feedback. We now have in production a new style of hose which overcomes this problem. If you ever want to replace the sump hose, you can pick up a replacement through your local Triton office.
